Today officially marks day one of beginning the keto diet.
In the last week I have stopped breast-feeding and let my milk dry up. I was only able to exclusively breast-feed for about two months. Baby K was not getting the amount of milk that she needed so we began supplementing with formula. It took some time for me to process because I was hell-bent on breast-feeding her! Mentally I was so disappointed in myself because I felt like I wasn’t doing a good enough job. But at the end of the day, what matters most is that Baby K is getting what she needs, whether that is breastmilk or formula. They say “breast is best,” but the superior motto is “fed is best.”
So I am five months postpartum now and I have only lost about 10 pounds since my final pregnant weight check. It is time that I start my own journey to get back to feeling and looking more like myself. I’m not sure how to carve out the time to work out or do something physical right now, more than a walk around the block with Baby K. But I know I can control what goes into my body. I was fairly successful doing keto for about 18 months, and I can still eat bacon and cheese on the keto diet.
I’ll be posting my weekly progress, along with the recipes (potentially with modifications) that I am cooking every week. I want to use this as a platform for accountability. My last weight was around 265 lbs. It’s still shocking to write that number. At my absolute heaviest while 37 weeks pregnant, I was 275. Whoa, baby. It’s difficult to get up from off the floor with this much weight, my knees and feet have been aching (never before have I had that happen) and for me, another term for “maternity clothes” could be “post-partum clothes.” Damn, am I tired of having such a limited choice of things to wear out of my enormous wardrobe.
So, keto here I come! This week’s recipes are linked here:
Tonight I made Pepperoni Pizza Chicken Bake but I added mushrooms!

Wednesday: Broccoli Bacon Chicken Bake
And Friday we are having grilled pork chops with Caesar salad! I love the bacon Caesar kits from Tom Thumb.
I will do weekly weight checks and will post pictures here, too. All for accountability. Thanks for coming on this journey with me, I’ll post photos of the meals, too, including any modifications I make!
Thank you for us always having enough and for the opportunity to better myself again today! ❤️
